Two individuals have recovered from the COVID-19 virus, according to Maldives state.
During the press conference held on Monday afternoon regarding developments on the viral pandemic in Maldives, Dr. Mohamed Ismail confirmed two individuals who initially tested positive for the virus have since recovered.
Dr. Ismail further confirmed the recovered individuals have since been discharged from the quarantine facilities where they were held for treatment.
With this new development, the total number of recovery cases from the virus have increased from 3 to 5.
While 13 positive cases were confirmed from Maldives, with the latest recovery update, the current cases in treatment have dropped from 10 to 8.
However, Dr. Ismail asserted the risk of exposure to the disease have not receded despite the number of recovery cases increasing, and Maldives was still vulnerable for possible future cases.
Dr. Ismail emphasized on the public to continue practicing social distancing since the island nation still has arrivals to some degree.
Maldives government has been taking several precautionary steps to ensure spread of the virus is constrained to the maximum capacity. To ensure this, government had imposed travel restrictions on 11 global destinations while local guesthouses and city hotels have been prohibited from accepting new bookings or lodgings.
Moreover, tourists holidaying in Maldives have been restricted from traveling to inhabited islands.
