Maldives Police Service has taken two locals into their custody, after the two were found violating their employer's stay-order within their employed venue.

Police confirms the two locals were employed in a locally operated tourist resort, and the resort's management had ordered against traveling out of the tourist slip due to Health Protection Agency's (HPA) conduct on quarantined or monitored resorts.

Moreover, local law enforcement confirmed the two were employed in a resort situated in Kaafu atoll (Male' atoll) and had evaded the resort management's authority by chartering their trip.

Police reported they had arrested two local men aged 29 and 30 for the offence against currently mandated health-safety protocol.

Tourist resorts with suspected cases of COVID-19 are ordered by HPA subjected for a lockdown, thus barring transport or travel in and out of the island; to ensure control over the spread of the viral pandemic.

Meanwhile, local police confirms they were investigating the case.

Maldives earlier had declared a State of Public Health Emergency, and those found violating the orders of Director General of Public Health will be taken action against.
