Maldives Police Service has reported the authority was investigating a case of sexual abuse involving a 15 year old victim.

According to the local law enforcement authority, the underage boy's report was received to Police around 17:04hrs on Wednesday afternoon.

Moreover, authorities confirm no one has been arrested in suspicion of victimizing the minor while the case is being investigated to discern possible perpetrators.

Earlier this year, a rape case involving an infant victim, who was sexually abused by her father, grandfather and great grandfather shook the island nation resulting in a loud public outrage.

Following the case, the then Minister of Gender, Family and Social Services Ms Shidhatha Shareef came under public scrutiny for visible imcompetency as well as failing to address the matter accordingly.

With the most recent case, police announced sexual misconduct against children or minors are top priority cases with immediate attention from the authorities.
