A Maldivian local who showed similar symptoms to COVID-19 virus, from the satellite town of Hulhumale', was tested negative.
Health Protection Agency (HPA) of Maldives confirms the Maldivian local was isolated at Farukolhufushi for screening and testing, adding the individual was confirmed on not carrying the virus post medical assessment.
The local individual was identified to have come in "close contact" with the foreigner who tested positive for the virus from Anantara Dhigu Resort, following which HPA had chosen to isolate the local.
Moreover, HPA confirms the Maldivian local was employed at Anantara Dhigu Resort.
So far Anantara Dhigu Resort reported two positive cases of COVID-19 found from a a foreign couple who stayed at the resort for holidays.
The 13 positive cases of the virus include 9 Italian nationals along with Turkish, South African, German and British nationals - one from each nationality.
