Maldives authorities will now employ court orders against individuals who refuse to cooperate in quarantining for the presence of the COVID-19.

Under the Health Protection Act, authorities may utilize court orders against said persons from whom Health Protection Agency (HPA) or relevant authorities suspect for the presence of possibility of COVID-19 to enforce them into cooperating with proper screening.

The Act further enforces health protection authorities to instruct individuals from either conducting or staying idle in case they have contracted vector-borne or viral diseases.

Should any individual refuse to cooperate with the relevant authorities, the said authorities can acquire court orders to ensure the subjects in question can be ordered to cooperate.
