Patients contacting pneumonia or cold will now be getting diagnosed for the presence of COVID-19 virus.
According to the Health Protection Agency (HPA) of Maldives, patients who face severities after contacting pneumonia or cold will be tested for the presence of the viral strand even if they had not traveled to countries with verified presence of the new strand of coronavirus.
The agency further confirmed tests for COVID-19 will be available from Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).
A pneumonia patient on Saturday was diagnosed at IGMH for the presence of the viral strand, however following the tests; proved negative for any presence of the virus.
As of now there have been no reports or confirmed cases of COVID-19 presence in Maldives, while a few locals were quarantined after sequestering them from the public upon arrival - they were found safe.
Meanwhile the main gateway of Maldives, the international airport venues have been utilized with proper screening devices and monitors in order to quarantine the presence of the viral strand from any arrivals.
