The Health Protection Agency (HPA) of Maldives has confirmed the island nation has taken several precautionery steps in order to quarantine and identify possibility of coronavirus infected travelers arriving to Maldives.
Although Maldives has not reported any cases regarding the deadly virus, which broke out from Wuhan, China.
Meanwhile, reports across the globe indicate several travelers have been quarantined positive with the virus while the disease has been reportedly spreading across the countries.
HPA reports the two major international airports in the island nation; Velana International Airport and Gan International Airport will have thermal cameras installed to quarantine the arriving travelers for their medical conditions.
Moreover, the agency reports all arrangements have been made to quarantine, diagnose and treat any arriving passenger suspected of carrying the viral fever.
Furthermore, HPA reports they are notifying all relevant authorities with guidelines and instructions on how to counter or combat a scenario with a coronavirus positive arrival.
Any arriving passenger fitting into the surveillance criteria post screening will be treated at designated viral treatment centers at the Velana International Airport, Hulhumale' and at Dharumavantha Hospital.
As of 27 January 2020, there have been a total of 2,798 confirmed cases of coronavirus found in people according to World Health Organization (WHO).
The organization further noted out of the total reported cases, 2,741 of the infected were discovered from China.
Meanwhile, 461 of the reported cases were already critical and the virus has already claimed 80 lives.
Apart from China, the originating country, a total of 11 other countries were reported with cases of coronavirus.
