The cumulative total of state expenditure has hit MVR219.9 million as of 09 January 2020 - the first fiscal week of the current year.

According to the Weekly Fiscal Developments published by Ministry of Finance, the cumulative total in revenues and grants to Maldives government as of the review week reached MVR87.8 million.

While the state expenditure increased in 2020's first fiscal week compared to the same fiscal period in 2019, the earnings decreased.

In 2019, during the same fiscal period the state expenditure was at MVR81.4 million whereas the state revenues and grants were observed at MVR234.7 million.

The overall balance for the review week was a deficit of MVR132.1 million, while during the same period in 2019 the overall balance observed a surplus of MVR153.3 million.

Net issuance for the week from 05 until 09 January 2020 was a surplus of MVR74.5 million, with government securities valued at MVR1,636.7 million while MVR1,711.3 million was issued.

In the first fiscal week of 2020 no transfers were made to Sovereign Development Fund (SDF).

The cumulative total of tax revenues as of the review week was MVR54.2 million whereas in the same period in 2019, the total reached MVR152.8 million.

The cumulative total of non-tax revenues as of 09 January 2020 reached MVR32.8 million while in the same period last year the total reached MVR93.3 million.
