The Maldives Parliament's Speaker and former President of Maldives Mohamed Nasheed in a recent remark assured his faith in the island nation's Tourism Minister remains unflinched.
Nasheed's remark has come amid a time with the Tourism Minister attracting public lambaste over his controversial statement of resort employees receiving fair service charges.
In his tweet, Nasheed notes Tourism Minister Ali Waheed's held tenure of Maldivian Democratic Party's (MDP) chairperson adding he was familiar with the political party's various policies of governance.
Nasheed also placed his faith in Waheed claiming the Tourism Minister was more than competent in finding amicable solutions on minimum wage and service charge issues while complimenting the visible boost in the tourism industry since the party came to power.
The Tourism Minister attracted wide-spread scorn during a Wednesday held press conference, where Waheed claimed several local tourism industry companies and affiliates had desirable systems in paying service charges to their employees.
Meanwhile, his recent comments that have proven controversial has ignited an anti-campaign of sorts on various social media platforms actively voicing for his resignation.
