Police say they have arrested a foreigner who attacked another foreigner with a sharp object on a street in Male'.

They said that the attack happened on Karankaa Magu of Male' in the early hours of Saturday morning. Police said that the victim of the attack was rushed to ADK hospital and that the person had sustained serious stabbing wounds on his neck.

They further said that the victim was a 38-year-old man from Bangladesh.

Police stated that after a preliminary investigation into the attack, they arrested another Bangladeshi national last night. Police said that they arrested the suspect under a court order and identified the man as a 28-year-old Bangladeshi man named Antharu Mullah.

Police did not reveal why he had attacked his fellow countryman but added that they were further investigating the case.
