The young man from Shaviyani Milandhoo who fell seriously ill after contracting Dengue Fever has died.
The 23-year-old local man died after he was transferred to Male' for further treatment. He was initially treated at Milandhoo and later transferred to Haa Dhaalu Kulhudhufushi before being brought to Male' as his condition did not improve.
Sources had said that the man was treated at the state-run IGMH's ICU and that he was on the ventilator.
His death came as authorities warned of an alarming increase in Dengue Fever cases across the country, including the Male' area and the inner Atolls.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), Dengue is a viral infection transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes, causing high fever, severe headache, joint/muscle pain, and rash.
