The CEO and Managing Director of Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company Ltd, MIFCO, Faruhath Shaheer, has resigned from the dual roles.

The Privatization and Corporaization Board, PCB, said Faruhath had tendered his resignation today and that the board had accepted his resignation.

Meanwhile, the Managing Director of Male' Water and Sewerage Company Ltd, MWSC, Abdul Matheen, has also resigned today.

Matheen said in a social media post that he has resigned from his post as Managing Director of MWSC with immediate effect. His resignation is yet to be confirmed by the PCB.

These two announcements are the latest resignations and political dismissals following the ruling party's apparent defeat at the Local Council Elections, the Women's Development Council Election, and the Public Referendum.

The government has so far dismissed the Managing Director of Fenaka, along with the Managing Director of Agronet, while other executives of other SOEs have also been fired after the electoral defeat.
