Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed says the international bunkering service launched through the Maldives Economic Gateway has generated a revenue of MVR 730 million.
Today, the minister said the banking service is generating a huge revenue for the state despite criticism of the government.
The Minister noted that as of last month, the service had generated a revenue of MVR 730 million, adding that the monthly revenue from banking services is also increasing.
However, Minister Saeed did not give details of the revenue.
The bunkering service will generate $400 million a year, he said before the service was launched.
The bunkering services were launched back in September of 2024 after the government brought in a special vessel to provide the offshore service.
