The Deputy Managing Director of Male' Water and Sewerage Company Ltd, Ibrahim Shahid, has been dismissed from his post.

Shahid, who was appointed as the DMD of the utility company last year, was dismissed at the Company's Board meeting held last night. Though it has been reported that his dismissal comes at the behest of the ruling government, the Company has yet to give a reason for his dismissal.

Shahid is the latest to fall victim to the ruling party, PNC's ruthless firing after it sustained heavy losses in the three elections held last Saturday.

The Managing Director of Fenaka Corporation, Major (Rtd) Mohamed Najah, and the Managing Director of Agro National Corporation (Agronet), Hussain Didi, were dismissed yesterday.

Meanwhile, the CEO of Maldives Ports Limited, MPL, Mohamed Rashwan, resigned from his post following pressure from the government.

The aftermath of the electoral defeat reached the diplomatic corridors, as the Maldivian Ambassador to the UAE, Mohamed Hussain Shareef, and the Maldivian Representative to the UN Offices in Geneva, Dr. Salma Rasheed, were also dismissed from their posts.
