The Criminal Court has extended the remand custody of the suspect arrested in the case of the fire at a warehouse near the mortuary in Galolhu Ward.
Police arrested 29-year-old Hussain Shahubaan after the fire that was reported on the 18th of this month.
The suspect was arrested under a court order and was alleged to have caused the fire at the warehouse. He was initially remanded in custody for five days.
The suspect appeared in court yesterday after his initial remand expired and was remanded in custody for an additional 30 days.
The court ordered the extension of Shahban's remand because the community's safety could be endangered if he were released from custody.
Police said that the suspect has a prior criminal record.
