The Bangladeshi media say that the bodies of two Bangladeshi nationals who died in a gas cylinder explosion in Alifu Alifu Dhigurah on Friday are being sent home to Bangladesh.
The Daily Star cited the country's Foreign Ministry as reporting that the bodies of Sadar Ali and Shafiqul Islam would be returned home to Bangladesh today.
Five Bangladeshi nationals died in the tragic blast and the ensuing fire on Friday, while two Bangladeshi nationals sustained serious injuries in the incident.
The Daily Star reported that Bangladesh High Commissioner to the Maldives, Dr. Md. Nazmul Islam, and other officials visited the injured at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital in Malé and inquired about their treatment.
It also reported that he visited the Galolhu morgue to pay respects to the deceased and said efforts were underway to send the bodies back to Bangladesh quickly.
The Ministry also said that officials from the Bangladesh High Commission visited the scene of the accident and arranged alternative accommodation for other affected Bangladeshi expatriates, said the ministry.
