The Maldives has condemned the continued closure of the Gates of Al Aqsa Mosque for worshippers during the holy month of Ramadan by Israeli Occupation Forces

In a statement, the Foreign Ministry said that restricting access to one of Islam’s holiest sites during this sacred month for Muslims constitutes a blatant violation of international law.

The statement said that this action represents a deliberate provocation that undermines the sanctity, legal status, and religious significance of Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The Government of the Maldives reiterates its call on the international community to take decisive actions to hold Israel accountable for gross human rights violations and its blatant disregard for the longstanding 'status quo' governing one of the holiest sites of the Islamic Ummah.
