The Government of the Maldives has strongly condemned the recent attack targeting the Consulate General of the United Arab Emirates in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
In a statement, the Foreign Ministry said that the Maldives underscores that targeting of diplomatic premises constitutes a serious violation of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations and undermines the established norms of diplomatic engagement.
It reiterated the importance of protecting diplomatic premises and expressed its full solidarity with the Government and the brotherly people of the United Arab Emirates.
Yesterday, the Maldivian government said that it condemns Iran's attack against Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain & other brotherly countries.
It also expressed deep concern over the escalating situation in the Middle East following the military attacks initiated by Israel and the United States against Iran and strongly condemns these strikes, including those on a girls’ school that resulted in over a hundred civilian casualties, as well as attacks on hospitals and oil facilities that caused widespread damage.
