State Electrical Company Ltd, Stelco, has taken over all the utility services in Kaafu Huraa.
Fenaka Corporation has been giving utility services on the island and today signed an agreement with Stelco to handover the services and resources to the company.
Stelco Deputy Managing Director Dr. Ali Azvar signed the agreement on behalf of the company, while Fenaka Managing Director Major (Rtd) Mohamed Najah signed on behalf of the company.
The agreement transfers the 32 employees under Fenaka Corporation to Stelco.
Stelco has taken over the electricity, water, and sewerage services of Hura and is now providing electricity services to all the islands of Kaafu Atoll.
Speaking at the ceremony, Azwar said Stelco would soon start working with the people to improve the quality of services provided in Hura.
He also said that Stelco staff would begin taking utility readings from household tomorrow to issue bills in a timely manner.
