Police have shared suspect information about three different cases of drug smuggling in the last 24 hours. They said that 7 individuals, including 3 locals and 4 foreigners, were arrested in these cases.

Police said that 2 foreigners from India were apprehended by the Maldives Customs Service at Velaana International Airport as they attempted to smuggle narcotics. The 25-year-old man and the 21-year-old woman were caught with more than a kg of drugs, and the police said that the Customs had handed them over to the Police.

Police further said that they have been remanded in custody for 5 days.

Meanwhile, the police released information about three suspects arrested for attempting to smuggle more than 6kg of drugs into the country via air.

Police said that all three individuals were arrested at Velaana International Airport, including a local man and two foreigners. Police said that the foreigners, two Indians, were apprehended by the Customs, and that the local man named Ali Irufan was arrested in a Police operation.

Police also said that Irufan has been remanded in custody till the end of his trial and that the two foreigners were remanded for 5 days. The suspects were arrested on the 3rd of this month.

Today, the Police said two locals were arrested for attempting to smuggle and traffic narcotics into the country via the sea. Police said that the two suspects were arrested on the 5th of this month and that Police found around 6kg of drugs when they searched the two suspects.

The two suspects, Ismail Abaan Abdullah (25) and Ahmed Dhaan Farhoo (19), have been remanded in custody for 5 days.

Police say they are investigating all three cases.
