Ministry of Higher Education says the government will take all necessary measures to ensure the safety and welfare of the local students studying in countries affected by the conflict in the Middle East.

In a social media post, the Ministry said that it was deeply concerned about the safety and well-being of the Maldivian students in the affected countries.

The Ministry said that it was closely monitoring the situation and maintaining continuous communication with relevant authorities, diplomatic missions, and educational institutions to provide the required assistance and support.

The Higher Education Ministry stated that the safety of the students remained its highest priority. It added that the Ministry stands ready to take all appropriate actions to safeguard their well-being during this challenging time.

War-like violence erupted in the Gulf region after the US and Israel attacked Iran without warning or any provocation. In retaliation, Iran had targeted Gulf nations that host US bases in the region, including Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, and the UAE.
