The Maldives Food and Drug Authority has urged the public not to use Handy Water glass-bottled water due to contamination.
MFDA said in a statement today that bacteria have been detected in the glass bottles produced at the Handy Water bottling plant. It said that these include the brand's 300 ml, 500 ml, and 1 litre glass water bottles.
The Authority said that the results of the analysis of the bottles showed that the water did not meet the World Health Organization's drinking water standards.
It urged the public not to use the glass-bottled water until further notice.
MFDA also advised the public to contact them via 303
