Maldives National Defence Force, MNDF, has rescued the passengers and the crew of a launch that capsized near Kaafu Gulhifalhu earlier today.
The MNDF stated that the vessel named 'Bullet Speed' was carrying 9 tourists and 3 crew members, including the captain of the launch. MNDF said that initially, a ship named "Beach Stone" rescued the stranded passengers and crew of the capsized launch.
It also said that the rescued passengers and crew members were transferred to the MNDF craft that attended the scene. The MNDF further said that all the passengers and crew were safely brought back to Male' around 09:40 in the morning.
It added that no serious injuries were reported in the incident. MNDF did not give a reason why the launch capsized. However, the Maldives has been experiencing a bout of strong winds in recent days.
