Maldivian cadets have departed for India to take part in the Republic Day Camp 2026, where they will participate in training programmes, cultural exchanges, and national-level events as part of ongoing cooperation between the two countries.
During the visit, the cadets will engage in cultural exchange activities, interact with Indian and foreign cadets, and take part in educational tours in New Delhi and Agra. The programme also includes participation in events linked to India’s Republic Day celebrations, including the Republic Day Parade, along with official interactions and meetings.
India has long provided training and capacity-building opportunities for Maldivian cadets through structured exchange programmes, camps, and specialised courses aimed at leadership development, discipline, and regional cooperation. These initiatives form part of broader defence and youth cooperation between India and Maldives, with a focus on strengthening people-to-people ties and professional exposure for young participants.
In recent weeks, Indian cadets also visited the Maldives under international cadet exchange programmes, during which they engaged in joint training activities, cultural programmes, and familiarisation visits. These exchanges provided opportunities for cadets from both countries to share experiences, build mutual understanding, and strengthen longstanding bilateral ties.
The participation of Maldivian cadets in the Republic Day Camp 2026 is expected to further enhance cooperation in youth training and development, while reinforcing the close partnership between the Maldives and India in education, defence cooperation, and regional engagement.
