Police have revealed that more than 60 accidents have been reported in the Male' area in the first 15 days of this year.

According to Police statistics, between the 4th and 10th of this month, a total of 67 traffic accidents occurred in Male' area, including the Sinamale' bridge, and the highway that connects Male' and Hulhumale'.

Police said that in this period, 56 accidents happened in Male' alone.

They also reported that the highest number of accidents occurred on January 6, with 13 accidents being reported on that day. Police added that the following day, 12 accidents were reported in the capital.

Police also stated that most accidents involved motorcycles, often due to speeding, and sometimes motorcycles crashed into other vehicles, such as cars.

Police said accidents are usually caused by driving faster than the speed limit and not keeping the required distance between vehicles.

Police have urged people to pay attention to traffic rules and take personal responsibility.
