The Housing Ministry has delayed opening applications for the first housing scheme introduced under President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
This comes as anticipation for the application deepened across the Greater Male' area as the government had initially announced that today it would open applications for social housing and land plots in the area.
The Ministry said in a statement today that it had decided to delay opening the application for the housing scheme to next Sunday.
The Ministry said that it was anticipating an influx of submissions once the applications open and that, as the weekend was ahead, it would be difficult for the Ministry's staff to answer any queries about the schemes.
It added that the housing portal would be opened at 09:00 in the morning on the 18th of January.
Around 7,900 flats and 15,000 land plots would be up for grabs in the housing scheme from the Greater Male' Area and the newly reclaimed Rasmale'.
The scheme is opened to residents from Male' and residents of rural areas living in Male' area.
