Immigration officials have shut down 5 illegally operated businesses by foreigners in Male'.

Authorities are conducting a series of raid operations to track down and deport foreigners who are illegally doing business in the country without valid visas.

Immigration said yesterday they teamed up with officials from the Economic Ministry and targeted illegal businesses operated by foreigners in the capital city.

They stated that 5 such businesses were raided and shut down. Immigration officials also said that 3 foreigners were arrested in the raid for working in the country illegally without proper documentation.

Immigration has teamed with other law enforcement agencies to apprehend foreigners who are working in the Maldives illegally without proper documentation.

Authorities have detained hundreds in countless raids across the Greater Male' Area and have also kicked off a nationwide program to ensure that all foreigners working in the Maldives have proper documentation.
