Maldives Immigration says several foreigners have been arrested in a raid conducted in Male'.
It stated that the raid was conducted to identify illegal businesses operated by foreigners in the capital city. It also said that 4 service centers were raided and that 3 foreigners were arrested in the raid.
Immigration said that the raid was carried out in tandem with the officials from the Ministry of Economic Development.
Immigration officials did not reveal the nationalities of the foreigners arrested in the raid.
Immigration has teamed with other law enforcement agencies to apprehend foreigners who are working in the Maldives illegally without proper documentation.
Authorities have detained hundreds in countless raids across the Greater Male' Area and have also kicked off a nationwide program to ensure that all foreigners working in the Maldives have proper documentation.
