The Anti-Corruption Commission ACC has launched an investigation into the former Managing Director of State Electric Company Stelco Shamah Rasheed, after he was dismissed from his post yesterday.
Shamah was appointed to the post last September after then-MD Hussain Fahmy was fired.
The Privatization and Corporatization Board, PCB, confirmed that Shamah had been dismissed from the post but stopped short of giving a reason for his dismissal.
ACC said today that a corruption case has been filed against the former MD and that they have launched an investigation. However, ACC did not provide any other information about the case or the accusations.
Under this administration, Shamah had filled the post of Managing Director of the Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company, MIFCO. However, he was later dismissed from that post as well after he faced serious accusations, including doling out jobs from the company to his friends and family.
