Police have launched an investigation into the head of MMA's Financial Intelligence Unit, FIU, Ismail Sajid, after he was accused of sexual harassment.

Sajid was suspended from his post back in December when the accusations first surfaced. However, the reason for his suspension was never revealed.

It was reported that he was suspended in connection with a case of sexual assault of a female employee working in the office. The case has now been reported to the police.

Sajid was appointed as the head of the FIU in August last year. He was transferred to the post after Abdullah Ashraf, who was formerly head of the MMA's Financial Intelligence Unit, was transferred to Risk and Compliance.

The changes were made to further strengthen the internal structure of the Central Bank.

The FIU is a unit of the MMA designed to send information on money laundering, terrorism spending and criminal assets to the authorities.
