President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has renamed the Aviation Security Command, a division under the Ministry of Defence, as the Aviation and Port Security Command.

The decision was formalised through Directive No. 20/2025, issued on Sunday.

The decision was made to ensure that the security of all ports is overseen by a single Government agency, while also strengthening the systems governing the security of port facilities and international seaports, in accordance with established port security guidelines.

All Government correspondence relating to the Aviation and Port Security Command will continue to use the existing reference number 453, previously assigned to the Aviation Security Command.
