Former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih says despite the difference of opinions between him and former President Mohamed Nasheed, the duo have never drifted as far as to stop working together.

He made these comments to the media after meeting with the former President earlier today.

Solih explained to reporters that the two leaders discussed the issue of holding the government accountable by consulting with former presidents.

He said that the two discussed ways to make MDP stronger and ways to attract more members to the party.

Speaking at the press conference, Nasheed said that many of the political parties that were formed in the political arena have collapsed to date, but that the MDP remains as an active political party till today.

Nasheed commended the party's structure for its continued longevity in the political scene. Speaking more about his relationship with long-term friend Solih, the former President said the duo had always had differences of opinion but had not allowed disagreements to create a rift in their friendship.

Solih echoed this statement and said that the two leaders have always worked to move forward together despite their differences in views.

Answering a question about the next Presidential candidate, former President Solih revealed that the leaders did not discuss the election at today's meeting and that today the focus was on strengthening the future of the party.

He added that they discussed working together and will always put the best interests of the party first.
