Education Minister Dr. Ismail Shafeeu says textbooks required for the next academic year will be dispatched to all schools within the first 10 days of the new year.
In an interview with PSM, Minister Shafeeu said that the Ministry had begun dispatching the books to schools in the inner Atolls on the 6th of this month.
He noted that the books have been sent to more than 40 schools so far and that the aim is to dispatch books to all schools by January 10, 2026.
The Minister also said that schools are currently working to release stationery vouchers to their students.
The government is working to install air conditioning in all schools after it handed over the contract to Fenaka Corporation. The 'Cool School Project' is an initiative launched by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, which looks to cool the rooms using renewable energy.
The current academic year will end this Thursday, and the next academic year will begin on the 27th of January 2026.
