President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has appointed former Youth Minister Ahmed Mahloof as the Ambassador of the Republic of Maldives to Japan.
Mahloof was appointed to the position at a ceremony held at the President’s Office this morning.
His appointment came a day after Mahloof's name was approved by the Parliament for the post.
Mahloof finished his five-year tenure as the Sports Minister in the former government of the Maldives Development Party MDP. Before that, he was a member of the parliament for the Galolhu South Constituency.
Recently, Mahloof signed as a member of the current ruling party, PNC.
The post of Japanese Ambassador was vacated following the death of former Ambassador Hassan Sobir back in July.
