President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has appointed former Animal Welfare Minister Dr Aishath Rameela as a member of the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives.

Dr Aishath Rameela was formally sworn in at a special ceremony held at the President’s Office this morning.

Her oath of office was administered by Supreme Court Justice Honourable Dr Mohamed Ibrahim.

During the ceremony, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu formally presented the letter of appointment to Dr Aishath Rameela.

The former Minister resigned from her post to seek cancer treatment.
