Malé, Maldives — Capital Travel & Tours Maldives marked its 35th anniversary with a glamorous celebration held at Jen Hotel in Malé on Monday evening, bringing together industry leaders, long-time partners and distinguished guests to honour one of the country’s pioneering travel organizations.

Established in 1990, Capital Travel has grown into a major force in Maldivian tourism, recognised globally for its innovation, reliability and key role in shaping the industry over the past three decades.

The anniversary gala featured a special video presentation tracing the company’s journey from its early days — when communication with foreign travel agents relied on postal letters — to its current position as a leading travel solutions provider. The video also highlighted Capital Travel’s future vision as it continues to expand its global reach.

Along with Riffath (L), Dr. Shauqee and former President Solih (R) are seated at the head table during the gala event.

A major highlight of the evening was the exclusive unveiling of Capital Travel’s newly developed internal booking engine, showcasing the company’s continued drive to integrate modern technology and enhance user experience for clients and partners.

The event was attended by several notable dignitaries, including:

  • Former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih
  • Former Minister of Tourism Dr. Abdulla Mausoom
  • Former Minister of Tourism & Civil Aviation Dr. Mahmoud Shaugy
  • CEO and Managing Director of Visit Maldives, Ibrahim Shiuree

Addressing the gathering, the CEO reflected on the company’s humble beginnings and remarkable transformation.

“It gives me immense pleasure to have had the opportunity to continue this work for 35 years. When I started, it was the era of postal service—sending registered letters abroad and waiting months for a reply,” he said. “Today, the Maldives has advanced alongside global developments, and fast digital communication has helped expand tourism across the country.”
