State Electric Company STELCO says one of its employees has suffered injuries in a fire that broke out at the Old Powerhouse in Hulhumale.
STELCO said the fire broke out when company employees were working to fix the engine switch gear in the Hulhumale' old station.
It said that the employee who was injured in the fire has now been taken to the Hulhumale' hospital for further treatment. A source close to the incident confirmed to The Press that the STELCO employee has suffered serious burns.
Stelco has also said that it was working to restore power to several areas in Hulhumale' as the feeder used to power Male' and Hulhumale' switched off due to an issue with mediaum voltage panel in the Hulhumale' old power house.
The utility company said that power has now been restored to most parts and that they are working to fully restore the power.
