One of the top pediatricians in the country, Dr. Ahmed Faisal, has warned that Dengue and Influenza are spreading rapidly in Male' area and Kaafu Atoll.
In a social media post, the doctor said that Influenza, a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses that can range from mild to severe and may be fatal, is spreading rapidly in the Male' area.
He described that some younger patients are experiencing severe syptoms and that some are unable to walk because of the illness.
The Doctor also warned that Dengue is spreading rapidly in Kaafu Atoll, especially Himmafushi and Maafushi. He urged all to take precautionary actions.
Dengue fever is a viral disease transmitted by infected mosquitoes, with symptoms like sudden high fever, severe headache, and intense joint and muscle pain that typically last for 2 to 7 days.
