Police have launched an investigation after a policeman was accused of hurting and threatening a minor during a scuffle at a futsal stadium on an island in the south of the country.
In a message to the media, the Police said that scuffles broke out between a group of boys playing at a futsal turf on the 21st of this month.
They said that a case was reported to the police on May 22, in which a police officer with a family interest in a child involved in the scuffle had physically assaulted another child and threatened the child.
Police said they were investigating the criminal allegations in the case and that the Professional Standards Command would conduct an internal investigation into the conduct of the Policeman under scrutiny.
Police have voiced concerns over similar cases that have emerged recently involving police officers and the Police force.
The Police Force had reassured that it remains committed to safeguarding the country and its people, and that it would not allow anyone to undermine the institution's reputation and erode the public's trust.
