Authorities have finalized the salary structure of the recently formed Maldives Media and Broadcasting Commission, MMBC.

The basic salary of the President of the Commission has been set at MVR 40,000, with a living allowance and phone allowance of MVR 18,000 and MVR 1,000 respectively.

The total salary comes up to a whopping MVR 59,000.

Meanwhile, the Vice President of the Commission is set to receive MVR 39,000 as a basic salary, with a living allowance of MVR 15,000 and a phone allowance of MVR 1,000.

The total salary of the Vice President of MMBC comes to MVR 55,000.

The other five members of the MMBC will receive a basic salary of MVR 33,000, a living allowance of MVR 14,000, and a telephone allowance of MVR 1,000. The total comes to MVR 48,000.

The new Media Commission, which has a total of seven members, consists of three members appointed by the Parliament and four members elected by the media.

Former member of the Civil Service Commission, Mohamed Farushat, has been appointed as the President of the Commission, while former Islamic Ministry media coordinator, Zamath Waheed, has been appointed as the Deputy President of the Commission.
