President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has become the first Head of State to visit every inhabited island in the Maldives in record time.

President Dr Muizzu achieved this feat by completing visits to all inhabited islands within just one year and eleven months.

He concluded his nationwide tour today with his arrival in K. Thulusdhoo, the final stop of a two-day visit that included all inhabited islands in Faadhippolhu and three islands in Maaleatholhu.

With today’s visit to Thulusdhoo, President Dr Muizzu has now visited all 187 inhabited islands and cities of the Maldives within the first one year and eleven months of his Administration. During this period, he has also made second visits to 63 of these islands.

The last time a sitting Maldivian President visited every inhabited island was 42 years ago, when President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom completed his nationwide tour within five years.

President Dr Muizzu’s completion of visits to all inhabited islands within just 23 months stands as clear evidence of the Administration’s rapid pace and commitment to nationwide development.
