Maldives Meteorological Services, the Met Office, has issued a yellow alert for the majority of the country amid a bout of bad weather in the Maldives.
The Met Office said that the Yellow Alert was issued from Haa Alifu Atoll to Thaa Atoll. It said that the alert was from 09:30 am to 01:30 pm
It also said that strong winds of 25 – 30 mph were expected and that gusts of 50 mph were also expected in this region during the time.
The Met Office warned that the seas are expected to be very rough during this time in these regions.
Authorities have warned seafarers to be wary of the rough conditions and to take all the necessary precautions during trips.
The country has seen several sea incidents caused by the rough conditions. Earlier this month, a landing craft on the way to Eriyadhoo resort from Male' overturned and killed three out of 7 crew members.
The rest of the crew members were saved by the Maldives National Defence Force Coast Guard.
