Police have arrested two individuals who are suspected of stealing a launch docked at the lagoon in Thilafushi.
Police identified the individuals as local men for stealing the high-speed launch from Thilafushi. They named the suspects as 27-year-old Ibrahim Mamdhooh and 30-year-old Hassan Rasheed Ahmed.
Both men were remanded in custody for five days and pleaded guilty to the offence.
Police said the two men stole a speedboat from Thilafushi lagoon, damaged it, and stole an engine gear from the boat.
The arrest warrant states that the two men have pleaded guilty to the crime and that they have the opportunity to enter into a plea agreement or an advisory agreement during the investigation phase.
Police are investigating the case.
