Authorities have confirmed that one person has died and 2 others are missing when a landing craft that was travelling from Male' to Eriyadhoo overturned.
The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) reported that the landing craft Almaak Fiya overturned last night and that 7 people were traveling aboard it when it overturned.
MNDF also said that they saved 4 out of the 7 people traveling aboard the landcraft, and the vessel has since sunk.
They further said that MNDF divers retrieved the body of one of the individuals who were missing from the landing craft and that the person's body was found around 08:04 this morning.
The 2nd Squadron of the MNDF Coast Guard is still searching for the two missing persons.
Officials have not confirmed why the landing craft overturned but Police have said that they were further investigating the case.
