Greater Noida, September 25, 2025 — Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked the 11th anniversary of the ‘Make in India’ initiative at the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show (UPITS-2025), stressing that India’s growth momentum has remained strong despite global disruptions. He said the government’s goal is to transform the nation into a manufacturing powerhouse, producing everything “from chips to ships.”
“Disruptions don’t hinder us. Even in uncertain times, we seek new directions,” the Prime Minister said. “Our resolve is Atmanirbhar Bharat. Dependence on others weakens growth; self-reliance strengthens it.”
Strengthening Defence and ManufacturingPM Modi highlighted progress in the defence sector, announcing that production of AK-203 rifles will soon begin in Uttar Pradesh in collaboration with Russia. He also pointed to the ongoing development of a Defence Corridor in the state. “We are building a vibrant defence ecosystem where every component carries the mark of Made in India,” he said.
He praised Uttar Pradesh’s role in India’s industrial growth, noting that the state now manufactures 55% of the country’s mobile phones and is emerging as a key player in the semiconductor sector.
Fintech and Inclusive GrowthHighlighting India’s achievements in digital innovation, Modi said the fintech sector has become a platform for inclusive growth. “Whether in malls or at roadside tea stalls, UPI is being used everywhere. This is the strength of our inclusive platforms like UPI and Aadhaar,” he said.
The Prime Minister also underlined the role of the Government e-Marketplace (GeM), where nearly 2.5 million small sellers and service providers now supply directly to the government. “What was once unimaginable is now empowering small traders across India,” he said, linking it to the national vision of achieving Viksit Bharat by 2047.
Global Partnerships and TradeWith Russia as the partner country of this year’s trade show, Modi said the collaboration demonstrates the strength of long-standing bilateral ties. He expressed satisfaction that over 2,250 exhibitors were showcasing products and services at the event.
Yogi Adityanath Hails GST ReformsUttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, also addressing the gathering, welcomed PM Modi and praised the implementation of “next-generation GST reforms,” calling them a “Diwali gift” for the poor, farmers, women, youth, middle class, and small businesses.
“In the last four days, markets have come alive with fresh consumer demand,” he said, adding that the reforms had given new momentum to the state’s One District One Product (ODOP) industries.
