Police have arrested a man who allegedly gave death threats to the doctors and nurses who treated him after he was injured in a fight.

They identified the suspect as 28-year-old Looth Ibrahim from Gaafu Dhaalu Vaadhoo.

Police said that the suspect was admitted to the state-run Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital last Sunday after a fight that happened in the early hours of the day.

They said that Looth gave death threats to the medical staff treating him and that he gave the threats in the afternoon.

Noting that they retrieved a knife from the suspect's pocket, the Police said that they arrested him on the 19th of this month under a court order.

Police stated the suspect has been remanded in custody for 15 days. They added that they were further investigating the case.
