President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has returned to Malé after completing his official visit to the State of Qatar, to attend the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit, convened in Doha on 15 September 2025.

During the visit, President Dr Muizzu delivered a statement at the Summit, condemning the Israeli attack on Qatar as a crime against humanity and an assault on the dignity of the Arab and Islamic world. He reaffirmed the Maldives’ unwavering solidarity with Qatar and the Palestinian people, and called for urgent and coordinated international action to hold Israel accountable for war crimes and to ensure peace and stability in the region.

On the sidelines of the Summit, President Dr Muizzu was granted an audience with His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, and conveyed condolences over the fatalities caused by the recent Israeli attack in Doha, expressed strong solidarity with Qatar and Palestine, and discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

The President also commended Qatar’s continued leadership in mediation efforts and humanitarian support for Palestine.

The Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit convened leaders of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Member States at a pivotal moment for the Islamic world, serving as a platform to unite their voices in condemning Israel’s actions and urging firm international measures to uphold international law and safeguard the rights of the Palestinian people.

This official visit strengthened the bilateral relations between the Maldives and the State of Qatar, and underscored the Maldives’ longstanding commitment to defending human dignity, justice, and the right of all peoples to live free from oppression and occupation.
