MP for Inguraidhoo Constituency and PNC Parliamentary Group Leader Ibrahim Falah says the current bill being deliberated at the Committee stage in the Parliament does not aim to regulate social media and that social media sites like Facebook and TikTok.
In an X post, Falah addressed the youth and civilians by stating that the Media Bill submitted to the Parliament by the Independent MP Abdul Hannan does not aim to regulate social media and that the public can use social media platforms as much as they want.
He further said President Muizzu is a good man who will brighten and protect the entire future of the youth and the people.
Falaah said MDP is encouraging them to start demonstrating as soon as the relevant authorities start investigating the thefts committed by the MDP influential people during the last government.
Members of the media and media rights organizations have been vehemently opposing the media bill, stating that the government is planning to control the media with the new legislation.
