The Islamic Ministry has instructed island councils across the country to perform special prayers during the Lunar Eclipse projected for tomorrow night.

In a circular, the Ministry said that the lunar eclipse will start around 08:28 pm local time and the full lunar eclipse will be seen in the Maldives at 11:11 pm.

It also predicted that the lunar eclipse will end around 01:55 in the morning.

The Ministry stated that the Lunar prayers would be performed in congregation at 11:12 pm in the biggest mosque on each inhabited island across the country.

Lunar prayer or Salat al-Khusuf is a special congregational prayer performed during a lunar (or solar) eclipse. The Prophet Muhammad instructed Muslims to pray and invoke God's help until the eclipse is over.
