Main Opposition party, the Maldives Democratic Party MDP has decided to stage a series of protests in the capital Male' starting next month.
This comes after the Party's General Assembly voted to take such action after a resolution was submitted.
The resolution said the government's nonsensical economic measures have led to soaring prices and suffering. The resolution said the government is violating justice by locking down Parliament and removing judges from the Supreme Court.
The resolution also said that the independent institutions are being taken under the control of the government, and the decentralization system is being undermined.
MDP's document stated that locals have been forced to beg for medicine and medical treatment and that they have been denied their right to information as the government looks to control the media.
The resolution proposes to hold a series of demonstrations on the streets of the city on the 3rd of next month, as the MDP is out to put the country on the right track every time the situation deteriorates.
